Class Rules and Expectations

In French class, you are expected to follow all school rules as found in the Student Handbook. You are particularly reminded to...
  • be inside the classroom when the bell rings (see tardy policy in the handbook)
  • listen to and follow directions
  • bring all necessary materials to class
  • refrain from eating, drinking, or chewing gum in class (water in closed containers is permitted)
  • Keep all electronics off and out of sight unless specifically permitted to use them for class activities
  • be kind, courteous, and respectful toward others. Socializing during class, especially during a lecture or a teacher-directed oral practice activity, is distracting to everyone and will keep you and those around you from learning. And learning is what we're all about!
And a few more expectations:
  • Be here unless you are ill.  Attendance is crucial for students learning a foreign language, particularly with a block schedule.
  • Maintain focus and attention to French in French class. No assignments from other classes are to be done during French class.
  • Cheating on any assignment will result in an automatic zero and referral to the office.
  • If you are absent, it is your responsibility to find out what work you missed. You will have no more than one week to make it up.
And one more thing:
  • Should you start to experience any difficulties, I expect to see you during PASS.  I believe all of my students have the potential to be successful in French class, but success does require effort. I am available to help during PASS virtually every day, so if you don't understand an assignment, or need help memorizing, or organizing materials, come see me.
